ChatGPT Can Roleplay a Buyer. So Why REPS?

A fair question. A general AI is a good conversation partner. REPS is the system around the conversation: what to train, and whether it showed up on your next real call.

Someone asked us this on one of our first calls, and it is a fair question. General AI assistants are remarkable conversation partners. Give one a good prompt and it will play a hesitant buyer convincingly. Plenty of closers already practice that way, and they are right to.

So the honest answer is not that the conversation is better in REPS. The difference is everything around the conversation: who decides what you practice, what the buyer is built from, and whether anything checks that the practice showed up on your next real call.

Who decides what you practice?

In a general chat, you do. You decide which objection to rehearse, you describe the buyer, and you judge how it went. That works when you already know exactly what is costing you deals. Most closers know where calls die. Fewer know why, and the two are rarely the same moment.

REPS starts from your own recorded calls. It finds the one habit costing you the most, the behavior underneath the moment the call slipped, and that becomes the target. You are not choosing what to practice from memory or mood. Your calls choose it.

What the buyer is built from

A buyer you write yourself tends to push where you expect. That is human: we cannot surprise ourselves. In REPS, practice buyers are built from the buyers you actually sell to, their situations, their concerns and the objections that came up on your calls, so the pressure lands where it really lands.

What happens after the session

When a chat ends, it ends. Nothing follows you onto your next sales call to see whether the new habit held. That is the part REPS is built around. It keeps your practice score and your real-call result apart, and it checks the trained behavior on the calls you take afterward.

  • It held: the behavior showed up on your real calls, and REPS moves you to the next thing costing you the most.
  • Not moved yet: enough calls to judge, and it is not showing up. You keep training it.
  • It came back: it worked for a while, then slipped, so the target opens again.
  • Too early: not enough calls yet to say, and we say so instead of guessing.
The conversation is the easy part. Knowing what to train, and whether it held, is the work.

So which should you use?

If you want a sparring partner for an objection you already understand, a general AI is a fine tool, and we would never tell you otherwise. If you want a system that reads your real calls, picks the one thing to fix, trains it, and then checks your next real calls for proof, that is what REPS is for.

Train. Go sell. Come back with more evidence.
